The Agrilympics Charity Fun Day

06/08/2009

Don't miss this years Agriympics which takes place this Saturday 8th August.

The Agrilympics was first conceived as a charity event in 2008 to coincide with the Beijing Olympics. Due to the tremendous success of the event last year, it has been decided to repeat the formula this year, but to give it a makeover with the 2009 maze theme. Therefore some of the events will be 'Rodeo orientated'.

The National Forest Maize Maze has held a charity event for the last 4 seasons now. This year the nominated charity is Clic Sargent. This is a charity supporting children with Leukaemia and Cancer.

Each team is from a local business or organisation. There are 4 men and 4 women in each team. There are 8 teams competing. The overall team to win will receive the coveted 'Silver Stetson' trophy. The teams are from:

Barclays Bank plc. - Stoke on Trent - Barclays Ballerina Babes
Acorn Inn - Burton on Trent - The Acorn in Wonderland
Touch Radio – Tamworth - The Touch Radio Allstars
4 Coffee & Catering - Burton on Trent - The Nits
Natural England – Wolverhampton - NE which way but lose
Monitor Environmental Ltd – Nottingham - The walking hazards
Scorpion Event Solutions Ltd - Burton on Trent - Norfolk 'n Chance
Bentley Jennison - Stoke on Trent - The Wurzels

Last year the nominated charity was Macmillan cancer support. In all we managed to raise £2000 on the day. Each team pays £100 entry fee. The National Forest Maize Maze will contribute £1 for every paying visitor who comes to the maze on the charity day. So come along for some good old family entertainment and we will try to beat last year's total for this very worthy cause!
