Agrilympics raises £2,350 for charity

13/08/2009

The Agrilympics took place at the National Forest Maize Maze on Saturday 8th August 2009. Once again the intrepid agricultural atheletes were put through their paces in events such as; The Round Bale Roll, Steer Roping, The Pony Express and...(who could forget) Baked Bean Boatracing.

All competitors competed in 3 disciplines. Eventually the winning team was decided by the last event; The Tug 'o' War. The overall winning team was the 'Acorn in Wonderland'. Team captain and landlady of the Acorn Inn Jane Haddon said, "We've all had a really great day. To win the whole event was a real bonus. We hadn't quite known what to expect when we were asked if we would like to enter, but we will be back to defend our title next year!"

The total amount raised for CLIC Sargent on the day was £2,350. Sophie Porfirio of CLIC Sargent said, "We are very grateful to everyone at the maize maze for putting on this special event. This is how fundraising works best, earning lots of money for the charity but in the name of having a good time as well!"

The other teams entered were: Barclay's Ballerina Babes (Barclays Bank), The Norfolks (Scorpion Events), The Wurzels (Bentley Jennison), The NITS (Tropical Ice North), NE which way but lose (Natural England), The Walking Hazards (Monitor Environmental Ltd.) and The Touch Radio Allstars (Touch Radio)
